I’m a principal product designer. On a wholesale ordering platform, I designed the dashboard and led its front-end build. Its users are sales reps, who take retailers’ orders for manufacturers, and the agencies they work for. The dashboard was the first page they saw when they signed in, so I made it the place to notice what needed attention and work out what to do about it.

I’ve spent 20 years designing and delivering products, more than 115 of them, and putting together the teams that build them. I also write front-end code, which lets me work across the gap between design and engineering.

I’ve led the creation of several design systems, including the evolution from Pixel to Genesis at AAA Insurance. A design system is where a company keeps what it has already worked out: UI libraries, token dictionaries, content stores, formatting modules. I build them to be configured, so someone can hand in a sketched wireframe and have a working UI within days.
